SC Department of Revenue Data Breach

The South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) announced that 3.8 million Social Security numbers and 387,000 credit and debit card numbers were affected by the recent data breach.  Also, any account numbers used to pay taxes or receive refunds may also be affected.

As a result of the data breach, the state of South Carolina is offering one year of identity theft protection and credit monitoring free of charge. To learn more about this offer visit the South Carolina Department of Revenues website, www.sctax.org/security.htm

Palmetto State Bank encourages its customers to follow the SCDOR’s recommendations outlined below to enroll in identity theft protection if they have filed a South Carolina tax return since 1998.
